From the Most Excellent News Department, I've today received word from veteran broadcaster David Berner, announcing his newest venture. The journalist, actor, and Renaissance Man dropped a line letting us know that early this year he is launching a half-hour, weekly public affairs television program on Shaw TV Cable 4.
Called, simply, "David Berner", the show will take the format of erstwhile PBS interview program, "Charlie Rose". As host, David will converse with one or two guests about the week's major headline story.
I can't tell you how relieved I am to know that Berner, a "bullshit-free zone" of a man, who is also the executive director of the Drug Prevention Network of Canada, will be tackling front page issues. Someone has to, given that many local TV programs change their focus so quickly from hard news to sushi segments and exercise "how to" clips featuring traffic girl glutes.
The "David Berner" show starts taping January 20th. The first air date is yet to be confirmed. I'll let you know as soon as I learn more.
